Things We Dare Not Do
16-year-old Ñoño lives in a small Mexican town. At sunset, he escapes to his secret place, where he sees himself according to his most intimate wishes.
El Roblito is a small town of a few hundred inhabitants in Mexico, surrounded by mangroves where life seems to go its own way rhythm. Ñoño, a 16-year-old teenager stands out from the group with which he spends his time, the children of the community. He does choreography, organizes activities and seems to be one of them. However, what the young man most yearns for throughout the day is being able to go to his secret place, where, at least for a few minutes, away from the eyes of other people, he manages to see himself according to his most intimate wishes. As the date of an important town festival approaches, Noño will try to gather the courage to communicate his greatest wish to his parents: dressing as a woman. But the risk is huge, as that is exactly the type of thing we dare not do, and additionally it implies that his childhood will be left behind forever.
